Due to the COVID-19 crisis, all guests must arrive to their scheduled trips with a face mask or covering. Wearing a mask or cloth covering over the mouth and nose is required during all Swan Mountain Outfitters trips during the check-in process, as well as the mounting and dismounting process. We also recommend protective eye wear and frequent hand washing or sanitizing. Hand washing is especially important prior to and after: touching the face, using the bathroom, eating, coughing, sneezing, and touching objects or surfaces. Guests will be required to use hand sanitizer immediately before check-in and mounting horses.

Montana is open to out-of-state travelers, including visitors to Glacier National Park. The west side of Glacier National Park is open with restrictions. The east side access points to Glacier National Park are tentatively expected to be open in 2021, but restrictions will likely apply. Conditions change daily, so please check the Park’s Recreation Access Display for at a glance information on what is open and closed or read more detailed information about Glacier National Parks reopening protocols, and what that means for visitors to the park.

The safety of our community, employees, and guests is important to us. As a part of reopening in consideration of COVID 19, Swan Mountain Outfitters is implementing strict safety protocols. We have taken new measures to accommodate our guests, at all of our operating locations, including horseback trail rides within Glacier National Park. Guest distancing at ride check-in, washing reins and saddles after each use, wranglers wearing masks while assisting guests with mounting horses, and other standards are in place to further protect our staff and clients. We are booking trail rides on the west side of Glacier National Park, in West Glacier from the Crown of the Continent Discovery Center, and from our Swan Valley location. However, due to the east side closure, our Many Glacier Corral will be closed for the 2020 season. For the most current Montana travel information, as it relates to COVID 19 updates and our trail ride status, please call our reservations team.

In these uncertain times, travel looks and feels different than it did before. When deciding where and when to travel, please be responsible and respect the community guidelines in the areas you are traveling to. For those of you who want to enjoy Glacier National Park from the saddle, but feel unsure about taking a mixed group ride, you still have options. We are excited to announce that we are now offering private trail rides within Glacier National Park. Private trail rides allow guests to enjoy Montana from horseback, with their own private party. Please call Swan Mountain Outfitters for details, rates, and questions about private rides. Call: 406-387-4405.

During the 2021 summer season, expect heavy traffic, construction delays, and extremely limited parking. Plan extra time between activities for getting around and finding parking.
