Restrictions
These policies and restrictions are for the safety of you and those around you. Violating any of the following may result in the immediate loss of riding privileges.
The following are unable to ride with Swan Mountain Outfitters:
- Riders unable to mount from the ground unaided
- Riders unable to maintain control of their horse
- Riders who are unable to understand or follow staff instructions
- Riders with fear of horses and/or heights
- Riders who veer off the trail
- Riders who ride faster than a walk
- Riders who harass wildlife or damage/take any element of the surrounding environment
The following are not allowed on any ride with Swan Mountain Outfitters:
- “Double” riding or lap children
- Smoking, vaping, and/or consumption of alcohol or drugs
- Firearms & bear spray
- Video cameras, DSLR or polaroid cameras, binoculars, or selfie sticks while mounted
- Backpacks, purses, fanny packs, or anything hanging from your body. Nothing may be looped, strapped, or draped around you. Saddle bags are provided
- Shorts or Sandals. Shoes must fully enclose your toes and heel
Safety helmet policy
Riders under eighteen are required to wear a safety helmet for the entire duration they are mounted.
Optional for riders eighteen or older. Riders who choose to have a safety helmet must wear it for the entire duration they are mounted.
Cancellation and Refund policy
Full refunds, less a 3% cancellation fee, will be issued if the ride is canceled with at least 48 hours’ notice.
You MUST call our office at 406-387-4405 to cancel your reservation.
No refund will be issued within 48 hours of the ride unless the ride is canceled by Swan Mountain Outfitters.
No refund will be given for late arrivals or no-shows, who will be barred from participation.
No refund will be given for guests who are barred from participation due to being outside the age, height, and weight requirements for the ride:

No refund will be given to guests who decline or are declined by staff to ride for any other reason, including but not limited to: being unable or unwilling to mount their own horse from the ground, follow basic instructions, or ride due to fear or discomfort.
Please print or screenshot your ride confirmation e-mail in order to get into Glacier National Park and access your corral during times of temporary gate closures.
Phone Use and Photographs
Riders choosing to take photos during their ride must demonstrate the ability to control their horse while doing so and must not cause a disruption to the horses, the guide, or other guests. Failure to do so will result in the guest being required to stow their device for the remainder of the ride.
- Wranglers may deny permission to use phones/cameras based on any factors such as, but not limited to, level of rider’s experience, horse behavior, terrain of the ride, weather, etc.
- There must be one hand on the reins at all times. Any device must be held and operated with one hand. No DSLR or polaroid cameras are permitted. No selfie sticks or extending equipment permitted. These items may startle the horse.
- The use of phones is limited to taking photographs and videos. No phone calls, video chats, or texting is allowed. Phones must be kept on silent.
- Should you drop your device during the ride, it may become damaged or lost. If dropped, wranglers are not expected to retrieve your device. By bringing your device on your ride, you accept this risk and acknowledge that Swan Mountain Outfitters is not responsible for any damages or loss to personal property.
Violation of this policy may result in termination of the ride without refund.
